Families in Transition

As we enter this season of generosity and light, I’d like to share an opportunity for us to come together in support of families who are facing especially difficult times. Each year, the Families in Transition program at the Oceano Community Center organizes a holiday Toy Drive for students in the Lucia Mar School District who are experiencing serious hardships, families unable to pay rent, living in motels, or struggling with basic utilities.
To the right is a sample of these wishes. These are simply suggestions, any new, unused, age-appropriate toys will be received with gratitude and joy. Even a small gift can help a child feel seen, supported, and hopeful during the holidays.
I will be collecting toys at our annual pantry market in Santa Maria on Dec. 9th. If that time doesn’t work for you, I’m also available a few evenings or on Sunday after Thanksgiving through Dec. 10th.
I’ll be delivering all donations on Thursday, Dec. 11th.You’re also welcome to drop toys off directly with the receptionist at the Oceano Community Center, just mention they’re from White Heron Sangha.
