We started fund raising for this project about 10 months ago. Because of the generosity of our WHS members, we were able to “adopt” all fourteen rooms designated for interim housing. Now, it is finally coming together! The construction is done, the shopping and furnishing are done, and people will be moving into these new apartments during the week of June 8, 2026!
On May 2, the group of WHS members who shopped for the fourteen interim housing units gathered at the project and worked on cleaning and setting up the rooms. Because the construction was not 100% completed, we were not able to put the “finishing touches” on the rooms at that time. However, we will be returning to the site on June 6 to add the finishing touches and the official Open House Ceremony is scheduled for June 8. Residents will begin moving in during that week.
We will continue to track the on-going needs of this project. We will continue to help in terms of material needs and also hope for relational opportunities as well such as perhaps establishing a meditation group or offering support in other ways that would benefit the residents. We will keep the Sangha informed as these opportunities for service present themselves.
