Do you have a dharma story or experience to share? Periodically, a WHS member will contribute to the newsletter telling how understanding dharma has impacted their life in some way. It is heartening to read about these real-life, personal experiences and the power of practicing dharma daily.
Dharma has various definitions depending on which tradition you choose to follow. In Hinduism, dharma refers to a moral duty to sustain the universe in its natural order and guides individuals’ behavior to support that goal.
In Jainism and Sikhism, dharma is practiced as a spiritual belief focused on purity. In Buddhism, dharma refers to the teaching of Buddha and the truth regarding the nature of reality.
All of these practices share the principles that the universe is kept in balance by a cosmic order and that we have a personal, moral obligation to act with integrity, compassion and truthfulness in daily life.
While all of these definitions, point to the dharma as working to keep the universe in balance, it also has significant impacts on individuals.
We would love to hear your story of how living a life through dharma has expanded your life.
Please submit your stories to Paula J Landis . The newsletter comes out quarterly, so watch for the winter edition to see your article in print.
