What is the role of enjoyment on the path of awakening?
Many of us carry the belief, often unconsciously, that practice should be difficult or austere, and we can end up relating to it with self-judgment and comparison.
We can also get confused about the difference between ordinary sense pleasures and the deeper, wholesome pleasures that arise from skillful states like generosity, kindness, and contentment.
Yet, as the Buddha discovered, pleasure is an essential ingredient in practice. And by learning to recognize and cultivate refined wholesome pleasures, we create a positive feedback loop that strengthens heartfelt motivation and trust in the path.
