The Class: In this class we will explore together the profound wisdom of the classic sutras that lay the foundations for all of the different Buddhist traditions. It doesn’t assume you know anything about Buddhism, so it is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced practitioners wishing to deepen their understanding of these wonderful teachings. Our group explorations will be supported by discussions, meditations, and readings from my book: The Buddha’s Dream of Liberation. The class is given without charge, but dana is welcomed.
Time & Place: Every Thursday night from November 1 until December 13th (except for Thanksgiving Day) from 6:00 to 7:15 pm at the White Heron Sangha’s Meditation Center.
How to Apply: Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will add you to the class list. If you have any questions you can also call me at (805) 550 6908.
The Teacher: James Coleman has a PhD from UCSB specializing in the Sociology of Religion. He is the author of The New Buddhism (Oxford University Press) and The Buddha’s Dream of Liberation (Wisdom Publications). He is one of the founding members of the White Heron Sangha, and has practiced in all three traditions of Western Buddhism. He has been authorized to teach meditation by both Reb Anderson Roshi of the Zen tradition and Lama Palden Drolma of the Vajrayana tradition.
